Piece by Piece: Speed Puzzling Foundations

New to speed puzzling? Start here.

Piece by Piece is designed for puzzlers who are curious about competitive puzzling or are ready to build a strong foundation. Whether you've timed a few solo solves or are just learning what speed puzzling is, this track will teach you the fundamentals, help you practice your skills, and connect you with a supportive community. 

​

You'll gain the confidence to enter your first competition, understand how to analyze your performance, and take your puzzling further - piece by piece.

Uncover the world of speed puzzling - where it came from, how it works, and how you can get involved. Learn about major events, community resources, and the goals of the Piece by Piece track

Now it's time to train! This session dives into the core techniques used by top puzzlers - from sorting strategy and edge detection to time management and competition etiquette. You'll learn the key drills to build muscle memory and mindset techniques to stay focused under pressure.

It's game time! You'll put your new skills into practice in a friendly, supportive virtual competition. Set you your space, start your timer, and see how far you've come.

Look back on what you've learned, reflect on your progress, and celebrate your growth. We'll talk about what's next and share tips for continuous improvement - plus a few surprises.

The Fast Track is for experienced puzzlers ready to hone their skills, sharpen their strategies, and compete at a higher level. Whether you're aiming to place on the podium, improve your team dynamics, or crush your next solo speed run, this track is designed to push your limits and refine your edge. 

​

You'll dive into advanced drills, develop strategic agility, compete in a full 500-piece competition, and explore what it really takes to puzzle under pressure - with coaching, community, and clarity guiding every step.

The Speed Puzzler Within

Module 2:
Breaking Down the Puzzle & Puzzle Poulet

Module 3:
Speed Puzzling with Other People

Let's start with the data - yours and the sport's. You'll explore speed puzzling stats, complete a self assessment, and set goals that align with your style. Then we'll break into advanced drills and mindset moments to help you transport yourself to the competition environment... complete with the Wheel of Doom.

Discuss how elite puzzlers assess images, assign strategies, and adapt on the fly. Through visual analysis practice and Puzzle Poulet, you'll test your instincts, practice rapid decision-making, and learn how to control the controllables when it matters most.

It's not just about speed - it's about synergy. This module explores human dynamics in pairs and teams competitions, from communication and role definition to psychological safety and performance under pressure. You'll leave with the tools to puzzle better together.

Module 4:
Virtual Competition

This is your race. You'll put everything you've practiced into a 500-piece solo speed competition. It's fast. It's real. And it's the perfect demonstration of your growth. 

Module 5:
Retrospective

Let's look back and level up. We'll review performance data, share feedback, and reflect on what you've learned. You'll leave with insight, motivation, and a plan for what's next.
